Sean Boyle

Sean is the owner of West Coast Wonders. Born in Vancouver, he was raised in the UK. In his twenties he travelled the world then returned to Canada to live the life of a ski bum in Whistler. Back in England in the 1990s he completed his formal education with master's degrees in both political philosophy and United States studies. This lead to a successful career as a politics and history teacher but eventually the lure of this magnificent province called him back.

Sean has a passion for showing people around the places he knows and loves and for introducing people to new places and experiences. After three years working for Whistler Discovery Tours it was time to go it alone and truly fulfill this passion and love for the outdoors and so West Coast Wonders was born.

Sean sees BC through the eyes of both a tourist and a native. In this way he knows what visitors are looking for when they tour the province but has insights and knowledge that only the local can have. Sean is an ACMG Assistant Hiking Guide and a wilderness first responder. He looks forward to welcoming you to British Columbia.

Pat Sails

Pat is co-owner of West Coast Wonders and was born, raised and adventured on Vancouver Island before making his home in Squamish. Growing up in the small lakeside town of Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island, he was surrounded by forest, lakes, rivers, ocean and mountains and it is here he developed his love and respect for the outdoors. Rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, skiing and swimming drew him to Squamish and now keep him very busy! Pat graduated from UBC Vancouver in 2011 with an engineering degree and has been a practicing geotechnical engineer ever since, now operating his own engineering business. He is also an ACMG Top Rope Climbing Instructor and holds current Standard First Aid & CPR. Like Sean, Pat has always had a passion for sharing his knowledge and experience of the wonderful terrain we have in BC. He has travelled much of BC, western USA, and many countries around the world to hike, climb, and adventure. He loves to share his secret spots and don’t ask him what his favorite hike or climb is unless you have a few hours to hear him out!

Peter Wainwright

Peter's career has taken him down several paths, from a stint in the military, to a degree in Engineering, to life in a Tanzanian National Park working for a well known wildlife conservation trust. But the lure of endless white-capped mountains and the pristine pacific ocean enticed Peter to BC where he can live his passions everyday and share his love of wild untouched places with others. He spends every possible moment exploring and adventuring in the backcountry on skis, in a kayak, trail running, climbing or surfing.

Having spent part or all of the last 4 summers in Scotland and Norway, guiding hiking or sea-kayaking trips for companies including National Geographic Adventures, Peter is very excited to be back guiding on the West Coast of BC and living in Squamish. An accomplished hiker, kayaker, ski mountaineer, and guide, Peter is always up for a new adventure, the more remote the better. His down to earth, relaxed demeanour and wealth of experience make him a great companion in the mountains or on the sea. In the winters he works as a ski guide for several heli-ski operators and backcountry ski-touring lodges. Peter speaks fluent Spanish and conversational French alongside English.

Beverley Atkinson

Bev is Sean's wife and runs the office and admin when Sean and the other guides are on trail. You may get to hear from her during the busy months of July and August when all the guides are out on trips. She also sometimes acts as shuttle driver when needed.
