Backpacking 101

This is an introductory course that aims to get you fully prepared for your first overnight backpacking trip. Over two days we will cover issues such as food and food preparation, equipment and packing, and of course, skills. It will be very hands-on with lots of opportunity to practice skills and play with equipment, making it fun as well as informative. For example we will test various types of stoves to check their boil times for a litre of water, we will make and dehydrate some good trail food and we will time trial and taste test various methods of water purification.
